When it comes to models, every apparel brand goes for a signature look, like “emaciated,” or “underage,” or “contemptuous.” In J. Crew’s case, that aura would be “actually kind of drunk.”
But don’t take our word for it: a hot new Tumblr called “Drunk J. Crew” (motto: “i spilled my amaretto sour on ur new carpet”) celebrates the preppie intoxication that sells the clothes:
